Even as Bonanza-centric as we get at this time of the year, we always remember when it’s time to eat! We asked old Bonanza pal Jill Hinson, now a PDX local, to update her go-to list for food, drinks and fun in Portland and Vancouver to jumpstart your non-JB hours!

Portland is well known for its brewpubs and this one boasts great beer and wine selections and great food and traditional-style pizza. Its location in the heart of the trendy Pearl District makes for a fun evening out.
Deschutes Brewery

Also in the Pearl District, Deschutes’ interior has a definite Pacific Northwest feel. The brewery has an extensive gluten-free menu along with great beer and wine selections. Outside seating is available!

Not your average pizza restaurant. Lovely’s specializes in brick-oven pizzas topped with local seasonal ingredients, which means the menu is always changing. Make sure you leave room for homemade ice cream. My favorite is malted milk ball!
Meriwether’s Restaurant & Skyline Farm

Located on the site of the 1905 World’s Fair, Meriwether’s restaurant has been lovingly restored and is a gorgeous setting for a special dinner. Try and sit in the outdoor garden area on a nice evening. Meriweather’s features a farm-to-table menu with seasonal ingredients and locally sourced meats and produce.

A restaurant inspired by your mother’s home cooking. Dine sitting at vintage farm tables under a ceiling covered in antique crystal chandeliers!
