a Hamilton cigarette case with labels.  These came with Railroad watches in the early 1920’s.

You knew you were a junker when…

… at 17 I walked into an old Craftsman house in Sunnyside, WA, that was completely furnished with antique settees and armoires. I couldn’t stop looking at all those old pieces of furniture, pictures and hand-painted wallpaper.  I was in love with looking for old things from then on. My first find was a set of etched Depression juice glasses with “Father” and “Mother” (I still have these).

Best all-time junking find:

So many, but it would be the 5′ x 4′ stained glass window I’ve moved around with me for 30 years.  There were there I found in the rafters of a restaurant that was going to put them in the trash. Can you imagine?  IN THE TRASH!  I was so lucky that day.

You wish you would never have parted with…

Not too many regrets in this area.  I still have things such as my grandmother’s cedar chest and McCoy vases that will always be with me.

Bringing to the Bonanza:

rustic, chippy, vintage, shabby and industrial.  I am hoarding the great Junque just for this show.

You never junk without…

… cash and good shoes and a vehicle big enough to fit everything.

No one would ever guess you…

… ride a Harley (Hot Flash),  and I own a vintage 1974 22′ GMC box van for hauling my junque.  Big Bertha’s her name.

Your junking holy grail:

ornate iron gates, chippy side boards and things I’ve never seen before, but just know they are something special.
