Even as Bonanza-centric as we get at this time of the year, we always remember when it’s time to eat! We asked old Bonanza pal Jill Hinson, now a PDX local, to share her go-to list for food, drinks and fun in Portland and Vancouver to jumpstart your non-JB hours!

10 Barrel Brewing

Portland is well known for its brewpubs and this one boasts great beer and wine selections and great food and traditional-style pizza.  Its location in the heart of the trendy Pearl District makes for a fun evening out.

1818 NW 23rd Place, Portland, OR 97210
Located on NW 23rd Place, a Portland shopping and eating destination, Ataula specializes in authentic Spanish tapas and Spanish wines and cocktails.

Deschutes Brewery

Also in the Pearl District, Deschutes’ interior has a definite Pacific Northwest feel. The brewery has an extensive gluten-free menu along with great beer and wine selections.  Outside seating is available!

Frontier Public House

Ginger Pop

Lovely’s fifty fifty

Not your average pizza restaurant. Lovely’s specializes in brick-oven pizzas topped with local seasonal ingredients, which means the menu is always changing.  Make sure you leave room for homemade ice cream. My favorite is malted milk ball!

Meriwether’s Restaurant & Skyline Farm

2601 NW Vaugn St, Portland, OR 97210

Located on the site of the 1905 World’s Fair, Meriwether’s restaurant has been lovingly restored and is a gorgeous setting for a special dinner. Try and sit in the outdoor garden area on a nice evening.  Meriweather’s features a farm-to-table menu with seasonal ingredients and locally sourced meats and produce.


Mill City Brew Werks

The Junk Bonanza team enjoyed this watering hole, right across the street and down the block from Camas Antiques.
Monti’s Cafe

Located inside Monticello Antique Marketplce, this is a great spot to grab a quick bite when you need a break from the junk hunt!

Mother’s Bistro & Bar

212 SW Stark St, Portland, OR 97204

A restaurant inspired by your mother’s home cooking.  Dine sitting at vintage farm tables under a ceiling covered in antique crystal chandeliers!  Order the cornflake-crusted French toast, you won’t be disappointed! The walls in the women’s bathroom are covered with old photos of mothers with their children.


Petite Provence

A French bistro with an amazing pastry case!  Wonderful and charming ambiance.

Pok Pok

A James Beard-recognized restaurant. Pok Pok serves authentic Thai street food.  The wait can be long but venture across the street to the Whiskey Soda Bar while you wait for your table.

Renata specializes in authentic Italian foods and fine dining, was named one of’s top Portland restaurants for 2016. It is located in the central eastside industrial district.


St. Honoré Boulangerie

You might think you have traveled to a street in Paris when you step inside St. Honore Boulangerie. Wonderful coffee and pastries along with quiche, salads and sandwiches for lunch. Just a short walk to NW 23rd shopping.
