Junk Bonanza proudly welcomes Alex and Attic Antics to the Portland show!
Name:
Alex Wijnen
Business name:
Attic Antics
Live in/Business located:
Portland, OR
Your style in three words:
European cottage chic
On your junking bucket list:
Shopping: Round Top & Brimfield Buying: an authentic Mora clock and Jieldé lamp
You knew you were a junker when…
…I saved up my pocket money to hit the once-a-year flea market when I was a child.
Best all-time junking find:
huge 18-drawer cabinet from an old men’s shirt factory in New England
You wish you would never have parted with…
…guess I’m lucky – so far no big regrets!
Bringing to the Bonanza:
loads and loads of French and European vintage treasures, including linens, tableware, canning jars, enamelware, kitchen canisters, rosaries, statues, prayer books, bottle racks, baskets, and lots of tinies in my “tray of treasure” (such as buttons, enamel numbers, Belgian bike license plates, knobs, etc.)
You never junk without…
…cash or hand sanitizer
In your garage: cars or junk?
Our two-car garage has not seen a motorized vehicle in years! It serves as storage for my display pieces and staging ground when I get ready for a show.
No one would ever guess you…
…are fluent in Dutch and German and know just enough French to negotiate a good deal.
Your junking holy grail:
just about any brocante or flea market in Europe, but one of my go-to sources is definitely Tongeren, Belgium.
Junking makes you feel…
… alive!
