What convinced you to exhibit at the Bonanza?
The Bonanza is the best of the best in the vintage world. We (Melinda of TresMelinda’s Rustic Pendants and Fancy) know it is the ultimate combo of partners in crime and vintage/rustic style. This was the final nudge to be part of the Bonanza.

What’s your style? Describe in three words:

Rustic, Western, nostalgic

What makes you swoon?
Anything that formerly served a different everyday use and is being given new life. We love zinc, metal, worn leather, sturdy furniture, salvaged materials and agri-junk, just to name a few.
You knew you were a junker when…
When we started wearing our Wonder Bras and bribing our landfill transfer station guy with cherry pies so we could go into the “metal” collection bins. It worked, by the way, for years. Discovering the beauty in something that has been cast off is an awakening.
What’s the one thing you wish you wouldn’t have parted with?
Nothing, really. We love to send old things off on new adventures!

Best all-time junking find?
Fancy: I bought a box of tractor trophies at an auction and underneath there were a bunch of old purses. I found lots of weird and yucky things in those purses but tucked in the bottom of the last purse was a 1915 gold coin. It was a stone-cold rush to find it.
Melinda: It was actually in our own backyard at our farm in Texas, all protected and overgrown, covered for years and years, an open well. About 15 years ago I flipped over the heavy metal piece to look in the well and nearly passed out. It had been covered with the Magnolia Oil Co. sign from my Granddaddy’s general store. he had the first gas pump in the area. Original red, white and blue painted zinc sign. It is just a treasure. I’ve hauled it from home to home as we have relocated cross-country several times.
What three things do you never leave home without?
Cowboy boots, Bible, sense of adventure

Best bit of repurposing?
Teaching our children to not cast off things, to repurpose everything from tin cans to old bridles.
What’s one thing no one would ever guess about you?
We LOVE to fish!

If you couldn’t be a junker, you’d be a…..?
Fiddler and banjo player in a bluegrass band or a dance teacher. Everyone should be required to know how to two-step!

We look forward to the new adventures we can send their junk on at the Bonanza! Only 8 days and counting!

Kim
