Rivertown Antique Company owners Marv and Linda Kangas are hard at work at their Zimmerman, Minn., home, prepping for their fifth Junk Bonanza appearance!
Their niche: Primitives, pine, painted, galvanized, quirky, urban barn.
Collecting bug bit: 40 years ago.
Piece people competed for last year: “A green chippy tool cubby. Several people wanted it! That’s the fun part, when you’ve hauled it, washed it, repaired it, lacquered it, and then it is coveted by many!
They haul furniture in: “A two-wheeler and a four-wheeler that we take everywhere.”
Where they sell: Buffalo (Minn.) Nickel Antique Market and in Walnut, Iowa, every Father’s Day.
Linda’s funniest Bonanza moment: “Last year, while hauling in during the set-up, one of the piece’s legs came off as I was rolling in into the building. All the stuff I had piled on top when flying! Embarrassing!”
We look forward to seeing you at the Bonanza Sept. 15-17, where today’s (mis)adventure becomes next year’s fun memory!

That’s MY cubby that I bought last year! 🙂 It’s been such a great great piece in my sewing studio. I can’t wait to come back this year. I always manage to find something that’s just amazing for my home. 🙂
Kelly, congrats for emerging victorious in the Great Cubby Competition of 2010!
Love that green cubby!!!!!
p.s. thought you might like to see my cubby in all of it’s “after” glory… 🙂 http://www.flickr.com/photos/pwrshopmom/5017396275/in/set-72157622944292172 It really is SO SO SEW perfect in my space. I have not regretted that purchase for even one second. 🙂
How fun to see it that cubby and then hear from Kelly how she treasures it!
