Vendors often say that one of their favorite things about the Junk Bonanza is the friendships they develop with their fellow vendors. As they say, birds of a feather……Obviously Bonanza vendors are quite a flock!

In the two years that I have lived in Minnesota, I have had the privilege of meeting many local Bonanza vendors who have become friends. I am happy to introduce you to two such women.

Claire Baxter runs a successful local occasional sale, The Hog Shed, at her farm. A former floral designer, Claire made the decision 6 years ago to combine her love of flea markets and estate sales with her desire to be her own boss. The Hog Shed has become the perfect outlet for her!

Claire told me she is saving special pieces for the Bonanza and that just before the sale she will pull it all together. She said her space will definitely have a farmhouse look.

In addition to her occasional sale business and getting ready for the Bonanza, Claire and her husband Ken have started remodeling vintage travel trailers from the 1950’s and 1960’s. Claire enjoys finding the right fabric and accessories to go with each trailer so that each trailer has their own individual “look”. How fun!

Is it any coincidence that every time I am out at a flea market or occasional sale that I run into junker-extraordinaire, Lanette Lorsung?

Lanette loves industrial and architectural salvage, old rusty items that can be repurposed and also old white chippy pieces with their original paint finish. You can expect to find these items in Lanette’s booth.

Lanette became an antiques dealer in the 90’s. Her father, a collector, influenced her interest in vintage collectibles. In the early 2000’s Lanette became more interested in items to decorate her home, she was introduced to “junk” and the rest is history, as they say.

Lanette’s full-time “job” is being a wife and mother. When not participating in
local occasional sales, scouring flea markets or shuttling kids to activities, Lanette writes about vintage style, junking and design on her blog Cottage Elements.

Just 81 days until Junk Bonanza 2010! Early Bird tickets are available on the website. Have you purchased yours yet?
