The Art of Junk contest at the Junk Bonanza is accepting entries until Sept. 15!
We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Meanwhile, we are excited to see the amazing medals that will accompany cash prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, thanks to the talented Brenda Weber of Autumn Place Arts!
Brenda fashioned these from signage numbers and flatware, as well as individual horseshoe charms.
Here are her medals for the firstl Art of Junk contest at the Fall 2013 Bonanza. We loved the vintage tape measure “chains” !

Brenda and her muse like to work in her “outdoor” studio!

These are the sources from which Brenda draws when she creates her amazing jewelry for Junk Bonanza! Said Brenda: “The pieces used on the Art of Junk awards were located in my studio, of course, but not originally! I do have quite the stash of vintage finds in my junk drawers!”
(This makes one salivate a bit!)
Old silver is one of Brenda’s chief elements!
“I have been making recycled jewelry for about 12 years,” Benda said. “With that, I must say, it’s the little things in life that excite me. You can find me digging in the bottom of the boxes at numerous sales and markets. Seeking the tiniest that may call to me, for a dreamed-up necklace or bauble on a charm bracelet, is my passion”
She added, “I love creating the awards for Ki’s contest and look forward to it for years to come! I hope the skilled three winners of the contest enjoy these awards as well!”

Brenda, we look forward to your work for shows to come!
Do you think you have what it takes to create a great entry for the Art of Junk contest?
We’d love to see it! You can enter it here, by Sept. 15!
Vive le junk!
