We can’t wait for @junkbonanza #minneapolis! We are thrilled that this show, in addition to all of the amazing junk and fabulous vendors, will also have a fun attraction for our attendees! We’ve invited Knitteapolis, the Minnesota Yarnbomber, to yarn bomb the Bonanza!

Knitteapolis is an installation artist who keeps her identity shielded from the public at large! Her works show up unexpectedly in public places — on signs, park benches and tree trunks, for example — and in corporate venues she has been hired to decorate!

Here’s a particularly fun piece of her work!

But…getting back to the Bonanza…we have hired her to yarn bomb the life-size horse structure that Canterbury Park uses at the racetrack! (See photo at top of this post!) We think it will be a great photo op for attendees to use as a backdrop to snap souvenir photos!

We’re urging folks to share their photos in front of the horse on Instagram with the #yarnbombthebonanza hashtag! Knitteapolis will pick the photo each day and award a Bonanza T-shirt and a hand-knit item to each lucky winner!

We also want to give YOU an opportunity to contribute to this art installation! If you knit or crochet, please feel free to make a “flower” in any pattern — in orange or pink yarn — and send it in! Knitteapolis will use it to make a wreath for the horse to wear around its neck!

Here are details if you would like to contribute! Watch this space (and our Facebook page and Instagram) for updates! We’re excited to see how the project progresses!

Ki and the team wish you a wonderfully creative and great junking day!

Kim
