yarnbombcar

We’re excited about the yarn bomb project for Junk Bonanza Minneapolis! You’ll remember that we were inspired by international public art installations such as this car…

…to do our very own yarn bomb at Junk Bonanza Minneapolis April 21-23! Our Minneapolis installation artist, Knitteapolis, will yarn bomb the life-size horse structure that Canterbury Park uses at the racetrack!

As befitting the Bonanza, we are repurposing lots of old afghans for squares and other shapes to use on the project! These fab afghans were purchased from Bonanza vendor Cammie Metheny at 106 Vintage Co.!

Here are a few progress shots!

We can’t wait to see how this turns out!

As part of this project, we  want to give YOU an opportunity to contribute to this art installation! If you knit or crochet, please feel free to make a “flower” in any pattern — in orange or pink yarn. Knitteapolis will use it to make a wreath for the horse to wear around its neck! Just email knitteapolis@gmail.com for instructions on where to send!

Watch this space (and our Facebook page and Instagram) for updates!

We think our horse is going to make a great photo op! He’ll be stationed in the Expo lobby. Instagram your photo with the hashtag #YarnBombTheBonanza — we’ll pick the best one each day to re-gram and to award a Bonanza T-shirt and a hand-knit item!
