As part of the Junk Bonanza team’s visit to California to recap the Spring show and make plans for Fall and beyond, we took some time out for flea market fun!
Ki found this fabulous fawn for her concrete collection!
(It caused a nearby vendor to share his sentiment: “Doh! A deer!”)
Sunday we hit the Santa Monica Airport Antique Market by 9 a.m. After a swell late dinner Sunday night, we were decidedly NOT Early Birds!
A few things we saw while meandering:
Tubs repurposed into fountain/dog waterers…
Atomic Age Tupperware…
Moulding detailing…
Cool signs…
Lots of vintage jewelry…
Happy linens…
Shoes with a spring in their step…
Retro purses…
Chapeaus with panache…
Charming booties…
Treasures from the sea…
Letters upon letters…
A trophy inscribed to Arnie Palmer (he placed second in this tourney)…
Keychains made from found objects…
Salvage from a shoe store…
Florentine-like flourishes…
Bread bowls and batter spoons…
Chillin’ fans…
Oculary exhibits and teeth!
JB Vendor Exhibitor Jane with some of her treasures. Will history repeat itself? We still remember the last time she tried to check 45 flea market alarm clocks through baggage in her carryon…
And JB staffing guru Irene with a painting she couldn’t refuse.
Hand-made fabric with a fabulous hand came home with yours truly!
This was just what we found in the morning! Tomorrow, the second installment of our flea market trip that day: Off to the Melrose Trading Post!
