Happy Monday junkers!

I would like to introduce you to two Junk Bonanza vendors from the great state of Iowa. The first is Janelle Roberts of The Farmer’s Wife and the second is Brenda Schwager, owner of JB Knacker, a vintage home store in Gilbert, Iowa.

Janelle Roberts, of The Farmer’s Wife is a second year Bonanza vendor specializes in old painted barn boards and enamelware pots and pans. In addition to these items, Janelle will be bringing lots of “raw” junk to the Bonanza – door knobs, door hardware, pieces from old light fixtures, bath and sink fixtures and varieties of game pieces. She will also be selling small chippy furniture pieces, metal and galvanized pieces, repurposed furniture and insulators – a very popular item in her booth last year! Also found in her booth will be garlands and banners made from vintage items.

Janelle didn’t always think junk was so cool….growing up she wondered why everyone else had an entertainment center and her family’s television sat on a big old wooden box. As she grew up, her mom’s love of vintage pieces influenced Janelle’s love for chippy painted furniture. In addition to her junk business, Janelle is a family and consumer sciences teacher – a perfect job for summertime junking jaunts!

The 2010 Junk Bonanza will be the third for vendor Brenda Schwager. Brenda started holding occasional sales with her friend Julie after they read an article about a shop in Buffalo, Minnesota that was hosting once-a-month sales (Victoria magazine June 2001). Wanting to earn money while still being home with her six children, Brenda and Julie held their first sale just three weeks later! Their occasional sales continued for the next four years. In October 2005 they held their last sale and opened a brick and mortar store three weeks later on November 15.

Brenda loves her booth location in the tent at Canterbury because it is the first place customers stream through. She also loves the friendships made with her fellow vendors.

Because she runs a store full-time, Brenda does not know what will be coming to the Bonanza. She claims she is a “fly by the seat of her pants” kind of gal….but later tells me she just might be stashing away old statuary, metal and wire, chandeliers, funky ephemera and good old primitives and salvage.

Ok, and now for what you have all been waiting for….drum roll please…the winner of the beautiful Beth Quinn Designs necklace is Terrell from Frou Frou Designs blog! Didn’t win? No worries, go check out Beth’s website or better yet, visit her booth at the 2010 Junk Bonanza! Thanks a bunch to all of you who entered…I loved reading your comments about when you discovered your inner junk girl.

Terrell, please email me at jillbeth@aol.com to make arrangements to get your “inner junk girl” necklace!

Only 87 more days until Junk Bonanza 2010!
